Wulai District Colorful, historic thoroughfare with street food vendors, hot springs & views of the Nanshi River.
About Wulai
Wulai District is a mountainous district south of New Taipei City, in Taiwan. It’s known for its hot springs, including pools by the Nanshi River. The Wulai Atayal Museum traces the history of the area’s indigenous Atayal people. A cable car runs up to Wulai Waterfall, which tumbles over a craggy rock face. Nearby, Neidong Forest Recreation Area has a multitiered waterfall and trails through forest sheltering birds and frogs.

There are many scenic spots near Wulai. If you want to visit the whole scenic spot, it is recommended to spend a whole day, because many roads are mainly hillside roads, which consumes a lot of physical strength.
Attractions,food,culture
There are many snacks on Yi Road. Personally, I like the sausages and mochi here. Let’s talk about the sausages first. The sausages are very fragrant, and they are not too salty. They are very delicious. Mochi tastes sticky and sweet due to the combination of condensed milk, which is very suitable for children to eat.
We went into the restaurant for lunch. The best thing to eat here is green vegetables. I heard that some vegetables are freshly picked locally. They taste crisp and sweet, and they are very delicious.
Going to the bridge and looking down, you can see the whole river is very spectacular and spacious. Why do we need to speak numbers on the river bank? Since Taiwan is in summer, typhoons are very frequent, and Wulai District is easy for the river to swell. This tick mark is used to remind the local people.
At the beginning, the trail followed the route of the trolley. It was relatively tiring to walk, but fortunately the weather was cooler that day, so it was easy to walk.
In order to see this waterfall, we walked a long distance, all the way is a hillside road, climbing very tired, but seeing this waterfall is so spectacular, we forgot to be tired.
On the way back, we took a trolley. There were a lot of passengers, and we waited a while. It seemed that many people were very tired.
